Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; degree or experience in Business Administration is preferred.
  • Five or more years of demonstrated relationship management experience in the retirement plans field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of qualified plans, Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 and qualified plan investments.
  • In depth knowledge of The Standard’s retirement plan products and services is preferred.
  • Professional certification required: NASD Series 6, 63, 65 or equivalent.
  • Retirement plans industry certification preferred or in process.
  • Travel is required.
  • Minimum Education - Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 2+ to 5 years experience
Responsibilities
  • Independently develop and manage effective primary relationships with plan sponsors and channel relationships through frequent client contact, including on-site visits, proactive phone calls, professional negotiation, responsive communication, and problem resolution.
  • Act as liaison between home office departments and the customer to initiate plan improvements and resolve issues, informing the customer in a timely manner of industry and regulatory changes and explaining the impact on the client.
  • Provide plan design consulting services.
  • Drive client retention by delivering annual plan reviews to decision-makers and initiating proactive client contact and meetings.
  • Provide investment advisory services, fund lineup updates and deliver Investment Due Diligence and Monitoring Reports.
  • Coordinate the installation of assigned new groups with the plan sponsor and channel relationships, including data collection, new business submission process, document delivery, and communication.
  • Deliver enrollment, re-enrollment, and education processes, including scheduling, determining content, and delivering meetings.
  • Participate in sales presentations as a relationship manager when requested by the sales manager.
  • Promote new products and services to plan sponsors.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior Client Service Consultants.
Desired Qualifications
  • In depth knowledge of The Standard's retirement plan products and services is preferred.
  • Retirement plans industry certification preferred or in process.
  • 3-5 years as a relationship manager.
  • Has worked in an advisor-centric environment before.
  • Ideal candidates should have worked for John Hancock, Transamerica, Fidelity, etc.
