Clifford Chance advises TotalEnergies on the acquisition of Shell's onshore renewables business in Europe. 7 august 2026. Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised TotalEnergies on the acquisition of Shell's onshore renewables business in Europe, including 500 MW of solar and wind assets in operation or under construction, mainly located in Italy and the Netherlands, and a 3.5 GW pipeline of solar, wind and battery storage projects in Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain. This asset portfolio will be wholly owned by TotalEnergies upon completion of the transaction, which is expected by the end of 2026 and remains subject to approval by the relevant authorities. The TotalEnergies team was led by Jérôme de Vulpillières (Direction Financière - Acquisitions, cessions), Vincent Bastien (Group Legal Senior Advisor M&A), Ji Yuan-Gouillart (Direction Financière, Departement Fiscalité Internationale), Alban d'Hautefeuille (M&A Sector Lead Renewables) and Benjamin Gillespie (M&A Gas Renewable & Power). Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised long-standing client easyJet plc on its recommended, competitive cash acquisition by Apollo-managed funds. The acquisition is subject to shareholder, court and regulatory approvals and is currently expected to complete by the end of the first calendar quarter of 2027. Clifford Chance advises on successful reopening of senior notes by Argentine energy company EDENOR. August 6, 2026. Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised BofA Securities, Inc., Banco BTG Pactual S.A. - Cayman Branch, Santander US Capital Markets LLC, UBS Securities LLC and Latin Securities S.A., Agente de Valores, as initial purchasers, in connection with the offering of US$200 million aggregate principal amount of additional 9.50% senior notes due 2033 by Empresa Distribuidora y Comercializadora Norte S.A. (EDENOR). The transaction was a reopening of EDENOR's 9.50% senior notes due 2033, originally issued in April 2026. The team was led by partner Hugo Triaca (New York), with support from associate Cristian Ragucci (São Paulo) and foreign lawyer Juan Andrés Bosch (Madrid).

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has announced that Mike Niekoop has joined the firm as a partner in its Amsterdam Banking & Finance practice, focusing on digital infrastructure and broader project and infrastructure finance. Mike joins from Clifford Chance with more than 15 years' experience advising developers, operators, sponsors, lenders and investors on complex domestic and cross-border project and infrastructure financings. He has spent over a decade advising on data-centre transactions. Mike advises across project finance, infrastructure finance, real estate-backed finance, portfolio and platform financings, borrowing-base structures and hybrid financing solutions. He has led landmark data-centre transactions across Europe, APAC and the Middle East. His knowledge also extends to hyperscalers and other offtake arrangements, SNDA, data-centre M&A, ABS and AI/GPU infrastructure financing. A significant proportion of Mike's practice is international and multi-jurisdictional, involving close collaboration with teams across global offices and disciplines. Alongside digital infrastructure, Mike has a strong track record in renewable energy, the broader energy transition and traditional infrastructure.
