Requirements
  • At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit is required.
  • An Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • The candidate must be licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York State.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required for all Registered Nurses.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required for Perioperative areas, including the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is required for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
Responsibilities
  • Recover, assess, and monitor pediatric through geriatric patients who have undergone surgical procedures under general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care.
  • Administer medication and manage overall patient care after surgical procedures under anesthesia.
  • Partner with attending physicians, registered nurses, and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Advocate for patients and build meaningful relationships with their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education.
