Requirements
  • High school degree or General Educational Development (GED) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work cooperatively with learners, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to be instructed to consistently simulate a case scenario in a standardized, accurate and reliable manner.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignments.
  • Must have access to email communications and have basic computer skills.
  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly lift 10 pounds or fewer.
Responsibilities
  • Interact professionally with learners, faculty, staff, and peers.
  • Simulate all aspects of the scenario, including history of current problem, affect/behavior, and physical findings, in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner.
  • Accurately and consistently complete checklists.
  • Accept ongoing feedback from supervisor/trainer and incorporate into case simulation.
  • Provide feedback to learners and colleagues in a constructive manner.
  • Participate in medical scenario components including history of current problem, review of systems, physical examination by a student (which may include inspection, palpation, auscultation, percussion, musculoskeletal testing, neurologic testing, specialized tests, and osteopathic structural examination), affect/behavior and physical findings in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner, and osteopathic manipulative treatment performed by a medical student for somatic dysfunction identified during the examination.
  • Other duties as requested and/or assigned.

Desired Qualifications
  • Acting background or previous experience in a standardized patient role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
