Requirements
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to generate clear documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and monitor personal performance to meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Effective planning and organizational capabilities.
  • Experience supporting AS9145 within an AS9100 organization and leading manufacturing-engineering engagement with the new product introduction team.
  • In-depth knowledge of the design, make, prove interface and Design for Manufacture and Test.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing resource planning and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • HNC or HND in an engineering subject.
  • Qualification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to work in the United Kingdom without restrictions under UK national law.
  • Willingness to successfully undertake an appropriate level of UK national security vetting.
Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation for new and existing products.
  • Assure product and process quality and control by designing repeatable and reproducible manufacturing processes.
  • Lead manufacturing-engineering engagement with the new product introduction team.
  • Lead new product introduction transition from engineering development into operations.
  • Apply project management and supply-chain principles, practices, and processes.
  • Evaluate existing and new manufacturing processes and products using process failure mode and effects analysis, and implement solutions to mitigate potential risks.
  • Contribute to bid preparations, including estimation of labor standards and potentially materials, plant, and tooling.
  • Define production requirements as part of new product introduction and provide financial business-case justification for selected build and test strategies.
  • Participate in supplier selection with procurement and the design team to determine the most cost-effective make-or-buy solution.
  • Design and manage manufacturing tooling to support efficient product assembly.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by planning process workflow, space requirements, manufacturing tools, plant, and layout.
  • Provide manufacturing support to root cause and corrective action, failure reporting analysis and corrective action system, and material review board activities to contain and reduce defects and improve first-pass yield.
  • Work with suppliers to reduce nonconformances and provide feedback to engineering design teams where appropriate.
  • Review manufacturing costs for existing products and formulate cost-effective redesign action plans.
  • Support a high-performing team and maintain professional relationships with internal and external suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Integrate new techniques and tooling technologies into the new product introduction process, including automation of current processes.
