Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in physics or engineering from an accredited school and up to 3 years of experience.
  • Proficiency with Python and MATLAB.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering analysis and modeling functions in technical areas including electro-optic/infrared signature measurement data collection; measured electro-optic/infrared missile plume and hardbody signature data and models; missile propulsion, trajectory, and attitude data and models; missile nozzle and plume flowfield models; and reentry wake flowfield and signature models.
  • Deploy as part of a small team to areas outside AEDC for periods typically from 1 to 2 weeks and apply one or more instruments to collect signature data on targets of interest.
  • Perform data extraction, metadata consolidation, and data processing and analysis tasks to support customer and user deliverables and requests.
  • Use and support development of government or commercial toolsets and applications to process and analyze data.
  • Prepare inputs based on underlying physics for model and simulation programs for missiles or other systems, and exercise the models to predict signatures.
  • Perform comparative analyses of simulation results.
  • Prepare documentation to record data processing, analysis, and software usage or adaptation.
  • Prioritize work across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with senior staff and peers and communicate technical information in oral and written formats.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An active Department of Defense security clearance is highly desirable, although candidates without a clearance will also be considered.
  • An advanced degree or additional graduate-level coursework in physics or engineering.
  • Chemistry, fluid dynamics, atmospheric physics background or coursework.
  • Coursework in computer vision and experience with OpenCV.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use government and in-house simulation codes and analysis tools.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience fostering cooperation and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engineering intern experience or experience in a test or aerospace/industrial setting.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and shift work while supporting test execution as schedules dictate.
  • Adherence to safety and security protocols in a test environment.
