Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science and one year of relevant internship experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Robot Operating System 2, including nodes, topics, launch files, and bags, with the ability to debug a live stack.
  • Strong Linux command-line proficiency and software debugging skills.
  • Experience building, running, and troubleshooting Docker containers.
  • Ability to independently bring up, build, deploy, run, and test software on hardware in the field with remote support but without constant supervision.
  • Basic data analysis and visualization skills using Python, plotting tools, and RViz.
  • Clear technical writing and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work on the water and dockside and meet basic fitness-for-water requirements, including swimming, lifting approximately 50 pounds, and spending extended time on the water.
  • Demonstrated self-driven building through a personal robotics project, open-source contribution, competition or club robot, or similar evidence of independent initiative.
  • Marine or boating familiarity and comfort on small craft.
Responsibilities
  • Bring up the autonomy software stack on the vessel by building, deploying, and configuring onboard software through containerized Docker deployment.
  • Plan and execute structured field tests of autonomy behaviors, including navigation, perception, control, and sensor integration, in simulation using Software-in-the-Loop and on the water.
  • Operate the system on the water, including pre-mission checkouts, launch and recovery support, live runs, and routine data-collection campaigns.
  • Own data logging, telemetry monitoring, visualization, and replay using rosbag and RViz, and ensure data integrity for post-test analysis.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot autonomy, networking, and onboard software issues in real time during test events.
  • Perform first-line data reduction and analysis and produce test reports, debriefs, and demonstrations.
  • Contribute to issue triage and root-cause analysis after field anomalies and communicate findings to the development team.
  • Build and improve tooling, test automation, and data pipelines to make field testing faster and more repeatable.
  • Develop a working understanding of the vehicle's hardware and software as an integrated system.
  • Coordinate on-water activities with the marine test team and remotely with the development team.
  • Travel to client and test sites.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Goken expanded validation and verification services in October 2025 as automakers embraced zonal architecture.
  • Its Pune offshore center and seven-year India presence support lower-cost capacity growth.
  • The company is publishing fresh engineering insights in 2026, signaling active demand-generation and thought leadership.

What critics are saying

  • Automakers are consolidating suppliers around zonal-architecture expertise, squeezing smaller validation vendors like Goken.
  • Heavy automotive concentration leaves Goken exposed to OEM capex pauses and program cancellations.
  • If large OEMs internalize validation and verification, Goken's core services lose pricing power.

What makes Goken unique

  • Dublin-headquartered Goken spans Ohio, Pune, and Yokohama, enabling hybrid engineering delivery.
  • It specializes in automotive validation, verification, CAE simulation, and software-defined vehicle testing.
  • Its onshore-offshore model helps OEMs and Tier-1s stand up dedicated engineering operations.
