Look Down And All Around: More Delivery Robots Are On Their Way

More delivery robots are coming to Miami, and they may just deliver your next pizza or burger order.Serve Robotics, a sidewalk delivery company, announced that it is launching operations in the Miami metro area this year. Customers who order from locations of its partners Shake Shack or Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza in the Brickell and Miami Beach neighborhoods with Uber Eats may receive their next order via Serve’s autonomous robots. This expansion builds on Serve’s multi-year growth in Los Angeles and its planned entry into the Dallas-Fort Worth market. With approximately 120,000 residents and their bustling commercial districts, Miami Beach and Brickell provide smart places to launch sustainable robotic delivery. Serve says it has worked closely with city officials and local stakeholders to ensure a smooth rollout.“Our robots are currently operating on the ground in Brickell and Miami Beach, and we expect to grow our footprint in the coming months. Our experience operating in LA shows that we can expect to grow steadily over time. Serve Robotics Ceo Sees Delivery Robots Transforming Last-Mile Logistics

This year, it is planning to deploy 2,000 Uber Eats delivery robots — further expanding in Los Angeles and looking to deploy in Dallas and other cities. Serve was spun out of Uber a year ago, after Uber acquired Postmates in 2020. Serve had been part of Postmates. Last year, the company announced a partnership with Uber Eats and Shake Shack to deliver in Los Angeles. Serve Robotics’ delivery bots currently traverse several Los Angeles neighborhoods, rolling on sidewalks to pick up food orders from 900 restaurants
