Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Behavioral Sciences or a related field.
  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals with mental illness and substance abuse treatment.
  • Successful completion of the required medication test to administer medications under nurse supervision.
  • Ability to transport clients in the community.
  • Ability to work scheduled evening or overnight shifts, with the majority of hours Friday through Monday.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct services to residents.
  • Provide staff coverage and ensure facility security and general supervision of residents.
  • Complete paperwork, reports, and charting contemporaneously and in an organized manner.
  • Co-facilitate or facilitate psychoeducational groups.
  • Administer medications under the supervision of the facility's nurse after successfully completing the required medication test.
  • Conduct house meetings for residents in collaboration with the Peer Recovery Specialist.
  • Assist therapists in developing treatment plans.
  • Work effectively and professionally with other treatment-team members.
  • Attend scheduled team meetings.
  • Assist with orienting new admissions to residential care.
  • Teach and develop independent living skills, including relaxation, conversation skills, housekeeping, and budgeting.
  • Identify individuals prone to behavior emergencies and assist therapists in developing additional programming for their needs.
  • Help defuse and de-escalate potential behavior emergencies and assist in developing additional programming for clients' needs.
  • Assist with discharge planning.
  • Maintain regular work hours.
  • Maintain familiarity and compliance with applicable Minnesota statutes and rules governing IRTS and residential crisis facilities, including DHS variances, MDH SLF Class A requirements, Minnesota Statute 253B, maltreatment of vulnerable adults, duty to warn, and the Minnesota Data Practices Act.
  • Participate in ongoing professional growth and development, maintain appropriate professional behavior, and participate in supervision.
  • Administer BACs and UDs as scheduled or according to the client's treatment plan.
  • Use crisis assessment tools for suicidal or aggressive behaviors and consult with the on-call supervisor, therapist, and emergency resources as needed.
