Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required.
  • A Certified Nursing Assistant certification from the California Department of Public Health is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Fire Life Safety Training from the City of Los Angeles is required; if unavailable upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration.
  • One year of experience in a health care setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing staff support in patient care delivery, clerical functions, organization of the unit environment, and equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Respond to patient calls within 10 minutes, anticipate patient needs, make proactive rounds, and provide the registered nurse with data related to patient assessment.
  • Contribute input to patients’ plans of care and accurately implement care-plan interventions in collaboration with the registered nurse.
  • Perform vital signs, daily weights, intake and output measurement, hygiene care, room organization, meal assistance, ambulation and mobility assistance, repositioning, transfers, and water service.
  • Prioritize patient needs appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe physical environment and ensure the safe operation and accessibility of patient-care equipment.
  • Document all care provided, including vital signs, intake and output, meal percentages, equipment used, and patient care.
  • Introduce oneself, explain the plan of care, use computerized systems for messaging and documentation, follow departmental communication channels, and report pertinent information, significant condition changes, concerns, refusals, and ineffective interventions to the registered nurse or charge nurse.
  • Collaborate with the registered nurse throughout the shift regarding patient care and data collection.
  • Maintain continuous survey readiness and keep nursing stations, locker rooms, pantries, refrigerators, patient areas, and equipment clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure the confidentiality of patient records and other written information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
