Responsibilities
  • Assist the Chief Pilot in the hiring and training of pilots.
  • Develops and implements the training program curricula as required by regulation for flight and maintenance operations.
  • Schedules training activities and ensures training is conducted at the appropriate times.
  • Selects, trains, and directs a staff of instructors and pilot check airmen.
  • Coordinates with the FAA to ensure that the PHI Health approved training programs comply with the current regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in the formulation and review of company policies and procedures that relate to flight operations and safety.
  • He performs other duties as directed by the Chief Pilot.
  • Coordinates with LAMP Manager in identifying trends and modifying training programs as indicated through flight data monitoring.
  • Manage the Pilot Training Department
  • Schedule monthly pilot training, as well as coordinate with PHI Health Base Supervisors for air medical crewmember training
  • Track expiring pilot and air medical crewmember FAA qualifications, to ensure the company doesn’t put unqualified crew members in the aircraft
  • Maintain the qualification database; notify employees and supervisors of expiring qualifications
  • Maintain and revise Training Manual to include revisions and bulletins
  • Coordinate with the FAA on approval of the Training Manual for initial and final approval of all new Training Programs
  • Quote, bid, and coordinate contracts for training services to outside customers. Ensure the proper billing of both internal and external customers
  • Assist in the formulation and review of company policies and procedures that relate to flight operations and safety.
  • Participate in, and schedule the hiring of new pilots to include the interview process
  • Develop, revise, and publish procedures for operating the different aircraft types, to include checklists, MEL’s, Passenger Briefing Cards and/or videos
  • Assist Chief Pilot to maintain and revise the General Operations Manual
  • Assist in the maintaining of pilot and mechanic records concerning operational experience, training and qualifications.

  • Directs the staff responsible for coordination and delivery of required educational programs for both internal and external personnel, which meets or exceeds all initial and annual educational requirements for compliance (CAMTS, OSHA, HIPPA, PHI AMG Policies/Procedures, Clinical Protocols, Department of Health or other regulatory agencies, and other requirements as needed).
  • Works closely with Aviation, Maintenance, Communications, and Clinical management for new or recurrent training as needs develop.
  • Provides Leadership to education/training managers and coordinators.
  • Performs audits and verifies staff educational requirement completion and documentation.
