  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • Two to five years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Advise and Support Student Organizations by providing guidance to a diverse portfolio of Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), including mentorship for student leaders, programming support, risk management, policy compliance, financial training, and connection to campus resources.
  • Lead Staff-Driven Programming Initiatives by designing and executing a year-round calendar of CLI staff-driven programs that foster student engagement, promote community building, and provide access to cultural, social, and artistic experiences in Chicago.
  • Manage the Student Activities Center (SAC). Oversee daily operations of the Student Activities Center, including budgeting, inventory management, space maintenance, service delivery, and copy charge administration; supervise, train, and mentor a team of Student Activities Center Assistants (SACAs).
  • Coordinate Major University Traditions and Events by collaborating with Campus and Student Life and other campus partners to plan and implement activities tied to key University traditions, including Orientation and Homecoming, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and student engagement strategies.
  • Contribute to Campus Life Programs and Office Initiatives by supporting broader Campus and Student Life efforts by assisting with campus events, office projects, and student life initiatives, contributing to a vibrant, inclusive campus culture.
  • Promote Leadership and Organizational Development. Support the development of training materials, workshops, and development opportunities that strengthen student leadership skills and organizational capacity among RSOs and student workers.
  • Ensure Student-Centered Service and Responsiveness. Serve as a reliable campus resource by maintaining strong relationships with students, staff, and faculty, offering flexible and responsive support, including availability during evenings, weekends, and emergent campus needs.
  • Advises, supports, and recommends concepts for programming to leaders of various organizations and programs.
  • Coordinates with the students and staff to develop activities, programs, and initiatives related to student life, and/or community involvement. Develops and implements straightforward programming.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a liberal arts field.
  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or student personnel.
  • Demonstrated success in working with diverse and complex student organizations.
  • Experience in working with students and advising student organizations in a student affairs or student life environment.
  • Event planning experience (vendor management, contract overview, etc).
  • Experience in organizational bookkeeping or budget management.
  • Prior experience in the preparation and presentation of workshops.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Must be able to work independently and carry out assignments and projects without detailed instructions.
  • Ability to understand the needs of the University of Chicago community and work with students, faculty and staff in a wide array of situations is essential.
  • Evening and weekend work required, including flexible work hours and availability to attend to emergency situations on campus as needed.
