  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania or seeking licensure through endorsement.
  • Bachelor of Nursing enrollment is required upon hire or promotion, with completion required within five years.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical experience with demonstrated leadership abilities is required.
  • Sound clinical knowledge in the area to be managed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in Human Resources and Financial Resource Management.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical and sensory requirements, including lifting, carrying, pushing, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and handling objects.
Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight of the Adult and Older Adult Behavioral Health Units at the Lehighton campus.
  • Maintain clinical competence to clinically support the department during emergent situations.
  • Ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care providers in assigned departments.
  • Direct the day-to-day operation and integration of assigned departments into the hospital network, personnel, planning, budgeting, marketing, clinical review, and committee structures.
  • Plan for personnel, performance improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, programs and services, and physical plant issues.
  • Assume 24-hour responsibility and accountability for planning, organizing, and supervising care to assure patient safety and meet patient needs.
  • Perform direct administrative functions for assigned departments.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-range performance improvement and operational goals and objectives.
  • Implement policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and recommended practices and ensure clinical practice standards are met.
  • Analyze and respond to unit-specific performance, outcome, and financial data.
  • Develop capital and operational budgets with Finance, hospital, and service-line leadership.
  • Select, motivate, and retain staff and initiate a formal recognition plan.
  • Develop and evaluate staffing based on patient care needs while maintaining costs within budget.
  • Maintain departmental records for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Facilitate unit-based councils, participate in network councils, lead performance-improvement projects, and organize monthly staff and committee meetings.
  • Remain current in health-care industry trends and specialty areas.
  • Work with medical staff leadership to develop and attain departmental goals.
  • Promote nursing education, development and application of evidence-based practice initiatives, inquiry, creative thought, and maintenance of staffing competencies.
  • Review staff performance, assure staff competency, and initiate remedial actions when appropriate.
