The Jr. Software Configuration Management Specialist is responsible for managing software life cycle data and records for software design and production. This activity is crucial to the process of obtaining and maintaining FAA Certification to produce, supply, and operate aircraft.
The Jr. Software Configuration Management Specialist works within all levels of the configuration management team and in correlation with Airworthiness, Engineering, Production, Quality, and other stakeholders providing critical data; process inputs and outputs to software life cycle and configuration activities, maintaining the traceability and auditability of software data in the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) System, and assuring software revision and version control are maintained within the software archive systems.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Perform configuration management and related processes to control and manage software life cycle data and records.
- Coordinate, scope, and track changes to software life cycle data, conduct releases, establish baselines, and manage configuration documentation for airborne software, software tools, test equipment software, and other software utilized in manufacturing.
- Ensure changes are adequately documented, authorized for implementation, reviewed for correctness and completeness, and ready for the change control board review and approval.
- Ensure correct software loading for production along with compatibility with aircraft systems.
- Assist in authoring procedures for the Quality Management System and development of the quality records management system and audit checklists.
- Support users in the use of relevant BETA software life cycle processes and systems (Polarion, Subversion, and GitLab).
- Support internal and external configuration management audits.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Understanding of software change management processes, knowledge of DO-178C, SAE AS9100D and ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-330, ARP9005.
- 1-3+ years of experience in aerospace or other regulated design and manufacturing industry.
- Requirements, Test, and Change Management software experience (Polarion, DOORS, JAMA, JIRA).
- Experience with Version control software (Subversion, Git, GitLab) and virtual machine software (Virtual Box, VMware).
- Passion for safety through quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.
- High energy, self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:
- Project Management, problem-solving, and relational database experience.
- Experience with ERP Systems.
- 1+ years of practical experience performing software builds.
- Management of Embedded software is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The Software Configuration Management Engineer may work remotely but is expected to be available for onsite work at BETA Technologies locations in Montreal Canada, Burlington Vermont, or Raleigh area of North Carolina. Candidates should be available to be onsite for stays of 1-3 days a couple times per month, or as needed.
