Requirements
  • An associate degree, or two years of job-related work experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Two years of experience in small group marketing, membership, underwriting, and/or customer service.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Good judgment skills.
  • Effective customer service and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Analytical or critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison to customers, agents, agencies, group leaders, marketing, underwriting, and operations to ensure appropriate documentation is received for accurate and timely processing.
  • Review all forms and documents for completeness and contact agents or groups for needed information.
  • Verify coverage benefits.
  • Enter group and member information into the enrollment system.
  • Perform initial underwriting review using the medical rater program.
  • Request necessary medical records and submit packages to underwriting.
  • Run alternate proposals through the Accel-a-rate proposal system.
  • Review ratings for workers’ compensation and out-of-state employees.
  • Retrieve claims history information.
  • Acquire necessary approval from Companion Life.
  • Handle inquiries from agents, group leaders, and customers.
  • Work closely with agents, agencies, and sales representatives to determine whether additional training is necessary based on the quality of groups submitted.
  • Work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours, with occasional overtime and possible travel between buildings.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of database software.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access or other database software.
