- Minimum of 2 years of experience and occupational health experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Strong understanding of 29 CFR 1910
- Experience in reviewing technical data packages and engineering drawings; conducting design reviews with respect to ADA, NFPA, ASHRAE, and/or ANSI compliance; and providing input for hazard identification and mitigation
- Have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Participate in hazard analyses of manufacturing operations, review standard operating procedures (SOPs), analyze process-start-up documentation, and develop other technical documentation
- Support/manage safety and occupational health programs
- Support/participate in program compliance audits by outside organizations
- Serve as a key safety reviewer for process manufacturing start-up and approval
- Perform walkthroughs and safety and health inspections of manufacturing areas, storage facilities, test ranges, laboratories, and administrative spaces; document any recommendations
- Recommend procedures for detection, prevention, detection, and elimination of physical, chemical, or other product/process hazards
- Track the status of open actions using databases or spreadsheets
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal to and external to the design team (e.g., engineering department, manufacturing department)
- Review, update, and present training on safety and occupational health topics
- Support mishap and incident investigations
- Maintain compliance with Federal, Navy, and local policies
- Review facility designs and manufacturing processes (e.g., controls, schematics, and structural drawings) for compliance with energetic requirements
- Experience in industrial manufacturing and explosives operations is preferred but not required
- A licensed engineer is preferred but not required
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with explosives safety is preferred but not required

ERG receives $85M EPA environmental collaboration & conflict resolution contract.
To help these and other communities improve local air quality, ERG works with EPA to develop branded, audience-tailored outreach materials and engages with residents, fleet managers, clean air advocates, and other stakeholders.
The Town of Acton has recently partnered with Eastern Research group (ERG) to support Acton Conservation Trust in conducting an in-depth assessment to prioritize 15-20 strategies in the Climate Climate Action Plan (CAP) Blueprint based on potential greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions, costs, and benefits, including equity and resilience, of each strategy.
ERG, in coordination with Applied Ecological Services (AES), recently helped EPA’s Office of Research and Development scope a project to assess regionalized, watershed-based, and cost-effective approaches for small, rural communities to meet water quality standards.
ERG is collaborating with NYSERDA and more than 60 universities, companies, agencies, and nonprofit organizations to ensure that the climate assessment is driven by the issues that matter to a wide range of New Yorkers and contains the information they need to make climate-smart decisions.
