Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science, engineering, or a technology-related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 8 years of cloud infrastructure experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience with compliance programs and security control sets such as NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP High, and IL4 in cloud SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments.
  • Expert knowledge of virtual networks, virtual wide area networks, subnets, user-defined routes, routing, and peering.
  • Expert knowledge of ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, and Private Link or Private Endpoint.
  • Expert knowledge of Azure Firewall, network security groups, application security groups, web application firewalls, and Application Gateway.
  • Hands-on experience implementing network designs and firewall configurations for connecting to government networks using Azure Firewall and/or Palo Alto.
  • Hands-on experience implementing IPv6 routing and strict egress filtering strategies.
  • Ability to translate Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides and National Institute of Standards and Technology controls into enforceable network guardrails and evidence artifacts.
  • Advanced understanding of Infrastructure as Code concepts and tooling, including Terraform, CloudFormation templates, Bicep, or ARM templates, on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Deep knowledge of configuration management and orchestration utilities such as Ansible, PowerShell Desired State Configuration, Chef, and Puppet.
  • Advanced understanding of cloud concepts including elasticity, security, and identity management.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies using Jira or Azure DevOps Boards.
  • Strong understanding of Azure Kubernetes Service with container-based deployment skills or comparable platforms such as OpenShift, Google Kubernetes Engine, or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service.
  • Proficient knowledge of software development life cycles.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience automating processes using PowerShell, Bash, command-line interfaces, REST APIs, Python, ARM templates, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with source control tools such as Git, Bitbucket, or GitHub.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 11, Windows Server, Internet Information Services, Microsoft SQL Server, and Active Directory.
  • Ability to apply effective solutions to emerging problems and challenges.
  • Ability to estimate efforts and manage multiple projects.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, continuous monitoring, implementation, and security operations of Azure cloud solutions to meet industry best practices and comply with FedRAMP High and IL4 requirements.
  • Lead the team in developing modular Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, PowerShell, ARM, Bicep, and YAML.
  • Lead projects of moderate complexity through completion.
  • Maintain a high level of reliability for key automated systems.
  • Lead teams in defining, estimating, and implementing requirements for new automations or moderately complex services requiring development.
  • Stay current with Azure and FedRAMP regulatory changes and industry trends, advising teams on impacts and required adjustments.
  • Update technical documentation, workflows, and knowledge base articles.
  • Provide feedback in pull requests and peer coding reviews.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems.
  • Assist with debugging problems that arise in production.
  • Mentor others in several technical areas.
  • Use FedRAMP and SOC controls to assist Compliance and Security teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working for a cloud service provider, managed service provider, or SaaS provider.
  • At least 8 years of relevant Azure experience deploying and managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016–2022, Internet Information Services, Microsoft SQL Server, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with Debian, Ubuntu, or other Linux operating systems.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Cisco Certified Network Professional, Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundation, Microsoft Certified Professional, CompTIA Security+, or CompTIA Network+.
