Requirements
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • Minimum of two year technical training/apprenticeship plus three years maintenance experience preferred
  • Strong emphasis on troubleshooting in a team environment
  • Able to effectively redirect efforts on short notice
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Able to work any shift
  • Willingness to learn
  • Physical ability to climb and work at elevations
Responsibilities
  • Read electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic schematics and identify operation of system
  • Install, operate and maintain electrical and electronic equipment and systems
  • Inspect and test electronic equipment using multi-meters, ammeters
  • Troubleshoot 24V analog and digital circuitry, electric motors and identify failures in the plant
  • Set up and troubleshoot VFDs
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems and identify and repair mechanical malfunctions
  • Use shop equipment, such as welder, mill, etc, to manufacture or repair mechanical components
  • Recommend changes in installation specifications to simplify assembly & maintenance
  • Monitor installed equipment to identify potential failures
  • Communicate actions taken to repair the machine to operator and/or manager
  • Communicate effectively with team members, corporate engineering, vendors, and internal customers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of plant and process safety rules, safe operating methods, and good housekeeping standards
Desired Qualifications
  • Nice blend of mechanical and electrical experience
  • Experience working with single phase / 3 phase motors
  • Experience working in a food grade environment
  • Experience working on printing press, laminators, or slitters

Flexible and rigid packaging maker Printpack Inc. is closing the company's manufacturing plant in North Carolina, a move that could impact nearly 100 workers.

Layoffs Hit Nc: Label Printing Plant Closing In Hendersonville, Business Nc Reports

CHARLOTTE – Atlanta-based Printpack will layoff 90 workers and close its Hendersonville location at the end of the year, according to paperwork filed with the N.C. Department of Commerce. The plant, which has been operating since the mid-1970s, makes labels for water bottles and candy wrappers among other things, says Robin Potter, a human resources worker and 40-year company employee. [Ninety-eight layoff notices have been filed thus far across the state in 2023. More than 8,500 workers have been affected.]Printpack is offering limited opportunities to some employees to transfer to other locations based on skills and needs at those places.
