Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist role, Industrial Hygienist technician role, or similar position.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and general environmental compliance practices.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • General understanding of FMCSA/DOT regulations, ELD usage, and reasonable suspicion indicators.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety reporting systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 10% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections and maintain all related documentation.
  • Support the implementation of EH&S policies, procedures, and company safety programs.
  • Perform hazard assessments and assist with risk mitigation strategies. Conduct incident and near-miss investigations at the Fort Wayne site, document findings, identify root causes, and assist with corrective action plans.
  • Support new hire safety onboarding and deliver site-specific training such as equipment safety, PPE requirements, and facility rules.
  • Assist the EH&S Manager in rolling out companywide programs and maintaining consistency across both locations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA and relevant environmental requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify compliance gaps and track corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records including safety inspection reports, training records, incident reports, and environmental documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining safety software and data reporting tools.
  • Monitor SDS updates and maintain the SDS library.
  • Support DOT compliance processes through documentation review, basic ELD familiarity, and visual audits of vehicles and related records.
  • Assist with driver safety initiatives, including reasonable suspicion awareness, new-hire driver compliance checks, and accident reporting workflows.
  • Participate in accident investigations involving company vehicles at the Fort Wayne site and assist in documenting findings and reporting.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, equipment damage, and near-miss events at the Fort Wayne facility.
  • Gather statements, conduct root cause analysis, and support the development and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Maintain case management documentation and prepare incident summaries for review by the EH&S Manager and the Safety Committee.
  • Support environmental compliance including waste management, hazardous material handling, universal waste, and spill prevention activities.
  • Maintain and inspect spill kits, AEDs, first aid cabinets, and other emergency and environmental equipment.
  • Partner with the Facilities Maintenance Technician to support environmental permits, waste disposal activities, and routine facility safety walkthroughs.
  • Assist with stormwater, waste management, and other environmental compliance activities as needed.
  • Ensure operator certifications for power industrial equipment, overhead hoists, and related machinery are maintained and documented.
  • Conduct equipment safety checks and support onsite compliance with manufacturer and OSHA requirements.
  • Serve as the primary EH&S contact for the Fort Wayne site while supporting the EH&S Manager with companywide initiatives.
  • Provide remote assistance to the Fort Worth location as needed and participate in occasional travel for audits, training, or program deployment.
  • Provide coverage for Fort Worth EH&S needs in the absence of the EH&S Manager.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with industrial environments including power industrial equipment and overhead lifting devices.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
  • Experience in fleet maintenance, equipment rental, or industrial service environments
  • Experience with SDS management systems, hazardous waste handling, or stormwater/waste programs.
  • The ability to work in various industrial settings, including outdoor environments.
