Requirements
  • An unexpired Associate Teacher Permit from the Department of Education is required.
  • Three or six Infant/Toddler units are required to be an Infant/Toddler Associate Teacher.
  • Immunization records must comply with Senate Bill 792, including immunity for measles, pertussis, and influenza.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Training Certification is required.
  • Sixteen hours of health and safety training, including one hour of nutrition training, is required.
  • The employee is required to be a mandated abuse reporter.
  • The employee must pass a health screening and TB test.
  • The employee must pass background fingerprint clearance.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • The employee must be at least 18 years old.
  • The employee may need to lift up to 30 pounds during some job duties.
  • The employee must use their hands for computer work and answering phone calls; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Teacher, Master Teacher, or Center Director with the general supervision, development, and education of children.
  • Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing the daily program.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment and needed materials and supplies.
  • Perform primary caregiving responsibilities.
  • Complete the Desired Results Process.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Conduct regular parent communication, including parent conferences and chatters.
  • Supervise Teacher Aides, Substitute Teachers, and Volunteers as requested.
  • Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher, Master Teacher, or Center Director.
  • Assume general responsibility for the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the agency.
  • Prepare written reports as directed.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Participate in activities that further professional growth.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
  • Work as a member of the agency team by promoting the organization's mission and philosophy.
  • Greet children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
  • Assist other centers when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher or Center Director.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of prior experience working with young children is preferred.
