Requirements
  • OSHA 30 certification is required.
  • At least 2 years of prior experience working within the heavy industrial construction industry, including manufacturing, pipeline, mining, food and beverage, power, and refining environments, is required.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, standards, and other applicable codes and regulations is required.
  • The ability to assess operational hazards and risks and develop and implement effective mitigation strategies is required.
  • The ability to understand incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis and develop solutions to prevent recurrence is required.
  • The ability to understand emergency response plans and procedures and ensure readiness for potential emergencies is required.
  • The ability to build relationships and collaborate with employees at all organizational levels, regulatory agencies, contractors, and other external stakeholders is required.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies such as Job Safety Analysis or Hazard and Operability Study is required.
  • Experience conducting safety audits or inspections to identify and address potential hazards is required.
  • Certification in First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • The ability to use safety management software for reporting and documentation is required.
  • The role requires compliance with applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment requirements, and Environmental Health and Safety policies.
  • The employee must be able to work in indoor office settings and outdoor industrial sites, traverse difficult terrain, and potentially work around noise, dust, chemicals, and other environmental factors.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with site safety training programs covering emergency response, hazardous material handling, and equipment safety.
  • Ensure employees arriving at the site have required industry-specific training, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration or Mine Safety and Health Administration training.
  • Assist with new-hire orientations, hazard-awareness training, and other required training.
  • Coordinate, participate in, and conduct daily safety meetings, provide educational materials, and assist with safety drills.
  • Document and store training and education materials onsite and in KPA.
  • Apply safety policies consistently and promote hazard recognition, elimination, and mitigation.
  • Implement and enforce company policies, the Site Safety Plan, client guidelines, and applicable federal regulations.
  • Continuously monitor job sites and work habits for compliance with company and regulatory health and safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, required permits and job forms, work habits, facility inspections, and construction site inspections.
  • Lead or participate in site incident investigations, ensure thorough documentation, and identify root causes.
  • Ensure injured employees receive appropriate care in a timely manner, including use of CORE Occupational Medicine.
  • Ensure corrective actions are properly documented, implemented, and entered into KPA.
  • Use KPA to prepare Safety Alerts, Incident Investigation reports, Root Cause Analysis reports, and other safety reports.
  • Work with operations and the safety management team to determine incident-related actions and enforce their completion.
  • Establish responsive communication between site operations and Health and Safety for field employees and managers.
  • Partner with site operations to maintain a behavior-based safe-work culture and engage the organization in safety excellence.
  • Interface frequently with customer safety teams and align company systems with customer requirements.
  • Conduct and document daily inspections and audits to identify safety violations, hazards, and regulatory non-compliance.
  • Address issues promptly, provide solutions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare daily safety reports containing day-to-day data for site safety and project management.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and enter them promptly into appropriate systems, including KPA.
  • Assist safety management with data gathering, analytics, and daily, weekly, and monthly safety meeting topics and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, participate in inspections, and facilitate audits.
  • Document and notify appropriate parties of citations and assist with corrective and preventive measures.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
  • Collaborate with site and area management to improve safety measures and implement strategies for improved safety performance.
  • Provide field feedback to support process improvement and implementation progress.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Regional or Area Safety Manager and support business operations.
