Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience or exposure in fundraising, sales, or a similar client relationship-based field is required; higher education experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially listening skills for discerning donors' interests and concerns, are required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate motivation for success and consistent follow-through.
  • The candidate must be able to build strong working relationships and establish confidence and trust among prospects and donors.
  • Experience with evaluations based on metrics or goals is required.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to National Collegiate Athletic Association rules compliance is required.
  • The candidate must understand and appreciate the mission of a small, residential liberal arts and sciences college.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • The candidate must be willing and able to travel.
  • Computer skills are essential, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel and experience using email and the internet.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct at least 75 in-person or virtual visits annually.
  • Manage a portfolio of up to 150 assigned prospects to cultivate their interest in and increase their support of the College and Warrior athletics.
  • Support implementation of the Warrior Club annual giving program by executing the annual fundraising strategy developed with the Director of Annual Giving and Director of Athletics.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to execute the solicitation strategy established by the Director of Annual Giving and Director of Athletics, and collaborate with Alumni Engagement to plan and execute Warrior Club events.
  • Implement Warrior Club donor stewardship activities according to established donor recognition and stewardship guidelines.
  • Establish a Days of Giving communication plan for coaches and track and report Warrior Club gifts throughout Days of Giving to the Advancement and Athletic departments.
  • Collaborate with coaches to identify and prioritize fundraising needs for athletic programs.
  • Spend 60 percent of working time with or working on prospects, planning, and following up on personal or virtual visits.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of prospect contacts and work with advancement operations to gather meaningful prospect information using a donor database.
  • Support the Director of Athletics for the Warrior Club Advisory Council by coordinating meetings and other activities and helping identify prospective new members.
  • Collaborate with the Alumni Engagement team and senior class advisors to solicit Senior Gift participation from student athletes.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Annual Giving and Advancement Leadership to prepare annual goals, identify priorities, set strategies for moves-management expectations for the assigned portfolio, and identify professional development opportunities.
  • Manage travel scheduling and use of the Athletics Fundraising program budget responsibly and efficiently.
  • Contact alumni and friends, in addition to assigned prospects, through written correspondence, telephone calls, and participation in special events such as Homecoming, Alumni and Reunion Weekend, donor appreciation events, volunteer committee meetings, and regional alumni activities.
  • Occasionally participate in planning and managing fundraising and alumni events.
  • Represent Lycoming College at regional and campus events, including Homecoming, Alumni and Reunion Weekend, and Commencement.
  • Stay current with development-profession trends by reading publications, networking with peers at other institutions, and attending conferences.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Experience as a collegiate student-athlete or coach is preferred.
