Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Three to five years of related work experience is required.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access, is required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers is required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to physicians in their clinical, academic, research, and leadership roles.
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, take accurate messages, or direct calls to the appropriate person.
  • Greet and direct patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond to requests in a timely manner and provide clear, accurate information within the scope of knowledge and authority.
  • Update patient demographic and insurance information as necessary.
  • Obtain specialist referrals for patient appointments.
  • Schedule patient appointments using scheduling tools and resources.
  • Coordinate and communicate ancillary appointments and procedures with other hospital staff as needed.
  • Obtain patient information and materials from referral sources.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records for physicians and clinical activities.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and external customers.
  • Handle confidential information appropriately and explain policies and procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain physicians' administrative and clinical calendars.
  • Type correspondence, manuscripts, and documents that may require complex formatting.
  • Compose routine correspondence.
  • Transcribe letters and patient notes for physicians or facilitate notes and letters in the CCC system.
  • Prepare and distribute materials for meetings and committees.
  • Assist and support licensed practitioners by queuing prescriptions for renewal and performing the initial review of medication listings for accuracy in the electronic medical record using Web OMR.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
