  • Proficiency in a core programming language such as Python, SQL, Scala, or Java, and willingness to learn or existing knowledge of Spark.
  • Familiarity with a core data or artificial intelligence domain, including modern data engineering, streaming, machine learning, or Generative AI such as retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, or large language model operations.
  • Experience with the modern data stack and open-source data tooling, and with at least one major public cloud: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on expertise in designing and delivering proofs of concept.
  • Ability to engage customers in a technical sales capacity by building a narrative, challenging assumptions, identifying the underlying pain, and driving toward a clear, tangible outcome.
  • Ability to communicate technical and business value to diverse audiences, from engineers to founders and executives.
  • Ability to build client relationships and internal partnerships with account teams.
  • Ability to work in a high-velocity, new-logo sales motion and operate comfortably with ambiguity.

  • Run hands-on evaluations and proofs of concept using customers’ real data and workloads.
  • Address technical buyers across modern data engineering, including Spark, Delta, and streaming, machine learning, and Generative AI, and integrate with their existing cloud and open-source stack.
  • Qualify opportunities quickly, prove value early, and land solutions in a way that supports expansion.
  • Make the technical and commercial case against competing tools, including cloud data warehouses, open-source stacks, and hyperscaler services.
  • Demonstrate Databricks’ Builder Culture and “show, not tell” principle using current artificial-intelligence tooling.
  • Develop customer-facing collateral and participate in workshops, hackathons, seminars, and meet-ups.
  • Develop technically and in pre-sales with the goal of operating independently as a Solutions Architect.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience selling to or working at start-ups, scaleups, or independent software vendors.
  • Databricks or other relevant cloud or data certifications.
  • Enthusiasm for building with artificial-intelligence development tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Databricks Assistant / Genie.

Databricks provides a unified data and AI platform built around a lakehouse architecture that blends data lakes and data warehouses. It helps organizations ingest, store, manage, and analyze data from various sources, then apply analytics and machine learning at scale. The platform offers automated ETL, secure data sharing, and high-performance analytics, with built-in support for AI workloads and model deployment. Unlike traditional single-purpose data stores, Databricks combines data engineering, data science, and business analytics in one system, aiming to streamline data workflows and make insights readily actionable. Its goal is to enable businesses to manage data more efficiently, accelerate insight generation, and deploy AI and analytics across diverse teams through a subscription-based platform and professional services.

Coatue leads $3B Databricks investment at $134B valuation

Coatue Management is reportedly leading a $3 billion investment in Databricks, according to recent reports. The data analytics company previously raised roughly $5 billion earlier in 2026 at a $134 billion valuation. Databricks sells a lakehouse platform combining data lake and data warehouse capabilities and has expanded into AI software for enterprise applications. The company reported $5.4 billion in revenue run rate in February, up over 65% year on year, which grew to $6.9 billion by June. The earlier financing round included $2 billion in debt capacity intended to fund AI products, acquisitions and employee liquidity. At its current valuation, Databricks exceeds Snowflake's market capitalisation of approximately $83 billion. Management has indicated the company may remain private until market conditions improve.
