  • The candidate must be proficient with Amkai Charts Database software and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • The candidate must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform surgical-technician duties ethically and legally within the scope of certification.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Scrub all types of cases performed by the company.
  • Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and provide equipment, medical gases, and supplies for procedures.
  • Participate in continuing education, in-service training, staff meetings, and the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program.
  • Open sterile packs using sterile technique and prepare instruments.
  • Set up the operating room with surgical instruments, verify equipment operation, and label sterile solutions.
  • Gather supplies and equipment for the operating room.
  • Maintain records of medications used intraoperatively, specimens retrieved, tissue implanted, implants, and liquids or chemicals on the field.
  • Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgical assistants.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, or blades when applicable.
  • Prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Operate sterilizers, lights, suction, operating-room equipment, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Assist with patient transfer to the post-anesthesia care unit when needed.
  • Clean and restock the operating room.
  • Assist with technical functions under supervision to support safe operations.
  • Prep, drape, and position patients for surgery.
  • Prepare cases according to the surgeon’s preference card.
  • Gather supplies and anticipate the needs of each case.
  • Assist with orienting new staff when needed.
  • Participate in developing a healthy work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of hospital main operating-room experience is preferred.
  • Certified Surgical Technician certification is preferred.
  • Applicants with science-major, veterinarian-technician, dental-technician, ophthalmic/optometry-technician, LPN, or in-office sterile-procedure backgrounds are encouraged to apply because training will be provided.
