Requirements
  • Certification and ability to operate a lattice boom crane with live brake capability.
  • Ability to learn and understand work-related safety hazards and safely operate work-related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in plant operations or construction jobsite settings.
  • Ability to work across uneven terrain, mud, gravel, sand, elevated surfaces, confined spaces, restricted-access areas, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle tools, equipment, instruments, and materials and frequently lift or carry up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance or available mechanical devices.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information with crew members, supervisors, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply, and communicate work instructions, plans, specifications, company policies, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply measurement, estimation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain concentration, situational awareness, and attention to detail in active work environments.
  • Ability to make timely safety, quality, productivity, and project-related decisions using sound judgment.
  • Ability to observe, evaluate, retain, and apply information necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Operate machines from cabs using pedals and levers.
  • Raise and lower live and fixed leads.
  • Drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and building, bridge, and pier foundations.
  • Use pile driver heads to drive pilings.
  • Judge the distance and position of piling leads.
  • Hoist pilings into leads.
  • Position hammers over pilings.
  • Activate power hammers.
  • Use multiple controls to operate equipment.
  • Select appropriate attachments.
  • Confer with building or project supervisors about job specifications.
  • Comply with all safety codes.
  • Read and interpret load charts.
  • Interpret hand signals to determine where materials should be placed.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities for tools and equipment.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, including checking fluids, refueling, adding fluids, and assessing component wear.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors.
  • Assist other craft workers as needed.
