  • This is a “wish list” and there will be plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to the Team and Customers needs and grow with Pythian. While we realise you might not have everything to be the successful candidate for the Oracle DBA job you will likely have skills such as
  • Mid to Senior Level DBA experience managing Oracle databases (including Oracle RAC) with a good understanding of Oracle database technologies (version 12 and/or 19)
  • Understanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager with some Linux knowledge
  • Curiosity and tenacity to fully diagnose why something went wrong
  • Understanding of Oracle database fundamentals and Architecture
  • DBA experience managing logical & physical replication Understanding of Oracle database security management
  • Knowledge of Oracle DataGuard and GoldenGate replication
  • Strong Troubleshooting and Performance Improvement
  • Skills including index creation, query optimization, schema changes etc
Responsibilities
  • Manage, support and maintain database technology and infrastructure, adhering to Pythian's best practices, architectural guidelines and policies
  • Physical implementation of databases, storage structures, high-availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions. Proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of issues
  • Developing and maintaining Python/Shell scripts for DB automation
  • Develop solutions to enhance database reliability. Regular database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis, predictive future database resource requirements, and the structured organized reporting of the same
  • Work closely with other Infrastructure engineering, product development, business operations, and technical operations teams to ensure delivery of database services within the SLAs and performance targets
  • Database administration for off the shelf and internally developed applications, ensuring continuous 24x7 operation and availability in support of our customers mission critical business applications, and participate in on-call rotation
