Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to type 45+ words per minute
  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspect of health information, coding, indexing, etc.
  • ICD-10 certified preferred
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant and solve practical challenges
  • Must be able to interpret instructions in writing, orally, and by diagram
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to read medical anatomy and technical procedures
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Must be ICD-10 certified within 6 months of hire
Responsibilities
  • Educate facilities and regional support staff to implement operational Policies & Procedures and best practices
  • Mentor, educate, and support facility medical records directors and other IDT members
  • Provide consulting oversight, and track facility Medical Records Directors
  • Assist with orientation of new Medical Records Director hires
  • Complete on-site facility visits for education and monitoring of trends in documentation
  • Conduct regular monitoring of medical records across multiple facilities
  • Participate in regular team meetings with SDQAM and other DQAM
  • Report trends to RVP and Regional Operations Teams
  • Coordinate Regional Ops trainings for Medical Records Directors
  • Ensure Medical Records monitoring tools are utilized to the highest level of compliance standards
  • Educate and enforce PACS Medical Records Policy and Procedures
  • Develop and distribute Regional medical records reports for quality improvement
  • Assist Regional Support teams and/or company defense attorneys with lawsuits, depositions, reports and document production
  • Assist with record requests to ensure complete documents for release
  • Provide Additional Documentation Request (ADR) support and training to Facility Medical Records Directors
  • Provide Triple Check training for Medical Records Directors
  • Support facilities in preparing for annual surveys and unannounced inspections
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HIPAA compliance, privacy regulations, and medical records retention policies
  • Develop and maintain good working rapport with RVP, Regional Ops team, and PACS Clinical Strategy and Governance Team
  • Fulfill other assignments as directed by the RVP
  • Report to Chief Compliance Officer any concerns of compliance
