Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related educational field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED exam: Science, Mathematics, Language Arts or Social Studies.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching Adult Basic Education-Adult Secondary Education classes or high school classes.
  • Experience working with individuals from varied cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with the ability to apply trauma-informed practices in all interactions.
  • Proven experience in delivery of high quality, effective GED instruction to adult learners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the Special Programs Coordinator at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Responsibilities
  • Teaching all areas required for completion of the GED.
  • Completing detailed, daily reports including tracking attendance and student completion of the course objectives.
  • Abiding by all College policies and procedures.
  • Abiding by all policies and procedures set by the MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education or related educational field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED exam: Science, Mathematics, Language Arts or Social Studies.
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality, effective GED instruction that meets a range of adult learning needs with a focus on measurable learning outcomes.
  • A background in counseling or related field with a focus on trauma or trauma-informed care.
  • For degrees earned outside of the United States, a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
  • Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
  • As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire: Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).
