Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 0–1 years of related work experience is required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and the ability to navigate web-based applications at a basic level are required.
  • An MA, EMT, CNA, or LNA certificate or diploma is required, or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting, such as medical assistant, patient care technician, or clinical nursing assistant experience, or nursing or medical student status with completion of one clinical rotation.
  • All staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform medical assisting duties including taking vital signs, measuring height and weight, performing electrocardiograms, performing phlebotomy, and assisting during routine procedures.
  • Keep patient care areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient use.
  • Escort patients to ancillary service areas such as radiology and the laboratory as needed.
  • Perform point-of-care testing, laboratory tests, and specimen collection.
  • Implement quality-control standards to ensure the proper functioning and accuracy of testing equipment.
  • Provide patients with instructions for specific tests and procedures.
  • Monitor, order, and maintain medical equipment and supplies, ensuring that they are clean, sterilized, stocked, and within expiration dates.
  • Perform the initial review of medication lists in the electronic medical record for final review by licensed practitioners.
  • Retrieve Schedule VI and over-the-counter medications only under the supervision of licensed providers.
  • Use the electronic medical record system to queue prescription renewals for review by a licensed provider.
  • Enter or scribe orders for tests, services, or appointments in the electronic medical record as directed by a clinician.
  • Document completed tasks in the electronic medical record during visits to support accurate facility billing.
  • Prepare schedules, patient charts, and other documents for clinical activities in accordance with medical center standards.
  • Procure and correlate medical correspondence as directed by the department.
  • Monitor patients and visitors entering, waiting, and leaving the practice.
  • Facilitate patient flow and inform patients and providers of delays.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and practice staff to support service delivery.
  • Keep waiting-room materials organized and stocked.
  • Answer and screen telephone calls as needed.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
