Requirements
  • CPA designated finance professional with 8+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Solid understanding of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
  • Proficiency with Office/Excel is required, and NetSuite is an asset
  • Diverse financial accounting background with experience in financial reporting, accounting, auditing & taxation
  • Experience working with multiple entities & currencies, with companies based in the US, Europe & UK
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate multiple projects with multiple deliverables and deadlines
  • Strong business acumen with a results-oriented focus
  • Superior oral and written communication skills combined with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Believes in continuous improvement and driven to question and improve processes, systems, practices as appropriate
  • Motivated by a challenge, will pitch in wherever needed to see projects and tasks to completion and with the ability to adapt quickly to manage competing demands
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner; gather and analyze information and apply creative talents to problem-solving

  • Please note this position is in Montreal, Quebec and on-site.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including payable, receivables, general journal entries, and month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare, review & deliver accurate consolidated & non-consolidated financial statements
  • Coordinate the year-end audit process including the review and/or preparation of working papers
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements, including note disclosures
  • Ensure all external government & taxation filings are properly submitted
  • Ensure financial reporting and procedural compliance with federal and provincial regulatory standards and GAAP
  • Analyze current financial and operational procedures and policies, and ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Identify risk factors and areas in need of improvement, and develop recommendations and implementation plans for improvements to financial controls, policies and processes
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to the accounting systems and processes to improve internal controls and efficiencies
  • Oversee the treasury function, including bank accounts, coordination of banking deadlines and monitoring of compliance with banking agreements
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting, providing support to operations team as needed
  • Ensure systems are up-to-date and functioning effectively, identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Collaborate with other departments to reflect business changes in financial reports
  • Lead a large team of accountants, analysts and accounting managers
  • Manage the team calendar and deadlines for monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables
  • Provide assistance to Director & executive teams with respect to financial information, issues and reports
  • Foster positive culture and resolve conflicts
  • Ensure performance of all team members through established expectations

Responsibilities
