Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of public transportation experience is preferred, with prior experience in a senior living community strongly desired.
  • CPR or basic life support certification is preferred.
  • The candidate must be at least 21 years of age to operate a Cedarhurst vehicle and over 23 to operate a Cedarhurst 15-passenger van.
  • The candidate must hold and maintain an active, valid Class E driver's license in good standing with a clean driving record and be able to meet community and state driving requirements.
  • The candidate must demonstrate proficiency with common digital tools and applications, including Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word, web-based platforms, electronic health record systems, and applicable human resources systems.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate effectively and identify and interpret written information.
  • The candidate must be able to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods and move throughout the community, resident apartments, and other community areas.
  • The candidate must occasionally be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance.
  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 200 pounds with assistance.
  • The candidate must follow infection prevention and control protocols, including using personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • The candidate must complete required training and ongoing education initiatives.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug screening, required health assessments such as tuberculosis testing or physical evaluations, and using designated personal protective equipment as required by company policy and applicable law.
Responsibilities
  • Drive the vehicle from the community area to destinations according to the assigned schedule.
  • Assist passengers into and out of the vehicle.
  • Secure passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize them during transportation.
  • Operate a radio or similar device to communicate with the base station or other vehicles and report service disruptions.
  • Clean and service the vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
  • Meet all Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Ensure community staff effectively communicate with residents' families about residents' physical, personal, and emotional well-being.
  • Take direction from management, take initiative, and engage in conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
  • Participate in staff activities intended to foster teamwork, unity, and morale.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a senior living community is strongly desired.
