The Industrial Design intern will work directly with a team of experienced designers, mechanical engineers, and clinical engineers to assist in the development and evaluation of next generation robotic systems and instruments used within the medical device space. We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in pursuing a career at the intersection of design and life sciences. Typical responsibilities will include supporting the design and engineering teams on user research, concept ideation, and model-making activities.
A Day In The Life Of Our Industrial Design Intern
- Partner with designers and engineers to shape a world class user experience and solve usability challenges
- Conceptualize new experiences and solutions for our users
- Help bring design storytelling that inspires to Noah through well curated storylines and presentations
- Facilitate and synthesize cross disciplinary ideation workshops
- Build low fidelity mock-ups (e.g., foam core)
- Create high fidelity renderings for design concepts and product artwork
- Participate in design assessment of various product prototypes, generate report of results, and present to cross functional team members
- Assist in developing and maintaining our lab and workshop spaces
About You
- Currently enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in an industrial design program
- Class standing of a Junior or above
- Prior internship or Co-op experience, recommended
- Prior experience with complex surgical products, recommended
- Ability to be in-person a minimum of 3 days per week in our San Carlos and Sunnyvale locations
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Minimum of 12 week commitment
- Comfortable working in a clinical setting
- A portfolio and narrative that showcases your perspective and core skill set
- Advanced ability in rapid prototyping techniques including making mock-ups, looks-like models, and building for 3D printing
- Fluency in 3D CAD surfacing and working with complex assemblies (Solidworks)
- Fluency in high-quality photo-realistic rendering (Keyshot)
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Ability to create and edit videos is a plus (e.g., after effects)
