Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Marketing, or one to three years of experience and/or training, equivalent combination of education and experience, with one to three years of purchasing experience is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with effective follow-up and follow-through are required.
  • Strong knowledge of the medium truck tire market is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level are required.
  • Technical skills in strategic planning and marketing are required.
  • A current valid driver's license and insurability to drive are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • The ability to work 50 hours or more per week, work weekends, travel, and stay overnight if needed to complete business is required.
  • The ability to communicate in English is required, if applicable.
  • The ability to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service is required.
  • The ability to work cooperatively with other team members is required.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must be able to sit for long periods, occasionally stand and walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, select, and procure products and services of acceptable quality and quantity.
  • Maintain daily inventory stocking levels and order assigned products.
  • Communicate and negotiate the best programs available through suppliers and vendors.
  • Review and analyze sales and gross profit contributions for each category and individual product movement within categories.
  • Keep informed of new products and programs through competitive store visits, vendor contacts, and trade magazine articles.
  • Work with vendors to minimize cost and maximize margins in assigned categories.
  • Work with vendors on new products, discontinued products, distribution changes, additional demands, promotions, reductions of out-of-stocks, and processing credits and returns.
  • Develop and coordinate promotional programs, advertising, and point-of-sale activities with vendors, ensuring communication and implementation at store level.
  • Analyze results of promotional activity within assigned categories.
  • Complete competitive market surveys as necessary and make retail adjustments based on survey findings.
  • Develop and implement product planograms for assigned categories based on category analysis.
  • Communicate with all departments to ensure effective implementation of marketing programs.
  • Identify and evaluate the latest industry trends.
  • Present professionally and effectively before groups of customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Execute sales, margin, and inventory plans to achieve corporate goals.
  • Assist all Category Managers as needed, including covering vacations and role reversals so all categories are covered.
  • Work with Regional and Shop General Managers to ensure proper stock levels are maintained.
  • Conduct store inventory audits as needed.
  • Evaluate nonstock reports to determine proper inventory to carry.
  • Work with Regional and Shop General Managers at store level to implement store sets.
  • Evaluate no-movement reports and determine strategies to relieve this inventory.
  • Provide friendly and competent customer service.
  • Report for work in a timely manner when scheduled.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
