Treyarch is looking for a hardworking and passionate Animation Intern with an interest in Viewmodel Animation to join our ranks!
In this role you will be work with a team of industry veterans who will help hone and guide your animation skills for 1st person gameplay and performances in working on the Call of Duty franchise, where you’ll use hand key animation techniques and implement animation content into the game.
1st person animation is the most essential form of animation for gameplay in Call of Duty, and this opportunity will teach you the importance of balancing the art of animation with the needs of gameplay design, and to learn the in’s and out’s of our 1st person animation pipeline.
Our ideal candidate is someone passionate about animation, and who possesses a good understanding of animation fundamentals, hand key animation, and strives to make the gameplay experience fun for the end-user.
What you’ll do…
- Work directly with your Animation Intern Director to hone your craft of creating 1st person performances that adheres to animation fundamentals, while also being compelling, visceral, and a complement to the gameplay design needs of a AAA title
- Learn the workflow process for creating dynamic and high-quality motions to be applied to in-game abilities for great player experiences and interaction with their characters
- Through guidance and tutoring, acquire the knowledge of our gameplay animation pipeline, the way animations are technically processed, and implemented into the game engine
- Study the standard techniques of AAA gameplay animation
- Become efficient with industry standard applications like Maya, Motion Builder, Perforce, and other programs that is used across many studios
To succeed you should have…
- Proficiency in Autodesk Maya
- An Animation Demo reel demonstrating a proficiency in 1st person viewmodel animation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn and expand your arsenal of skills in gameplay animation
- A passion for games with an ability to analyze and recognize competitive products for their strengths and weaknesses

- Are a graduating Senior or Post-Graduate (up to 1 year) student, majoring in Fine Arts, Visual Art, or Computer Animation

Covid-19 Hiring Update: We expect to be back in office for our summer 2023 internship and successful candidates will be expected to relocate and be onsite in Los Angeles for the duration of it. Treyarch will cover relocation services and will provide a living stipend to supplement housing, utility, and office supply costs.
