Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and three years of experience in accounting and financial analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience using property accounting enterprise resource planning software and working knowledge of leasing and rents.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, OneDrive, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and understand and explain financial concepts.
  • Ability to produce accurate work, organize tasks, track progress, and balance priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse parties and work collaboratively with Accounting, Property Management, and Asset Management teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex accounting transactions, understand accounting treatment, and resolve discrepancies in financial data during the period-closing process.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret financial information and compile and report data for an assigned portfolio of properties.
  • Prepare complex account reconciliations and journal entries, perform ongoing analytical reviews supporting the monthly close process, and prepare monthly account-variance analyses.
  • Ensure all inter-entity transactions are in balance and analyze variances before financial reporting close.
  • Read and understand compliance and partnership documents, including regulatory and loan agreements, and determine the accounting treatment associated with each document.
  • Research and document conclusions on accounting issues with an appropriate understanding of relevant generally accepted accounting principles pronouncements.
  • Participate in meetings to communicate and share accounting and analysis information.
  • Prepare annual audit schedules, work with external auditors to complete audited financial statements and tax returns, and ensure filings are completed within the timelines of partnership and other agreements.
  • Review audits and footnotes prepared by external auditors, monitor adherence to audit requirements, and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Confirm that surplus distributions are correctly calculated and appropriately distributed.
  • Present financial information and answer accounting questions for management and boards of directors as requested.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting as requested.
  • Review work prepared by the outsourced accounting team.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
