We are seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Technician to install, service, and commission building automation and HVAC control systems for commercial, industrial, and municipal facilities throughout the Gulf Coast. This field-based role is ideal for a technician with strong troubleshooting skills and experience working with DDC controls, BAS platforms, and low-voltage control systems. You'll work alongside project managers, engineers, and programmers to ensure systems are installed, tested, and operating efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and service HVAC controls and building automation systems (BAS)
- Perform controller programming support, point-to-point verification, system startup, and functional testing
- Troubleshoot electrical, communication, programming, and control system issues
- Read and interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and project specifications
- Install and configure controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, and other field devices
- Verify system performance and assist with commissioning activities
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, programmers, subcontractors, and customers
- Provide customer training during project turnover
- Complete startup reports, service documentation, and project records accurately
- Follow all company safety standards and jobsite requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience with HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), DDC controls, or related low-voltage controls
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC equipment and control strategies
- Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, and wiring diagrams
- Experience troubleshooting electrical, communication, and controls-related issues
- Familiarity with BAS controllers, sensors, actuators, VFDs, and field devices
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with project teams
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Gulf Coast region
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Experience with leading BAS platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Trane, Distech, Alerton, or Automated Logic
- Experience commissioning commercial HVAC systems
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, or other building automation communication protocols
