Requirements
  • Medical Doctorate or equivalent degree, board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology and successful completion of a surgical Cornea fellowship
  • Licensed in the State of Kansas or eligible for licensure in Kansas
  • Experience in a clinical and surgical Cornea practice and operating room settings
Responsibilities
  • Provide services as an Ophthalmology, Cornea Specialist, comprising of comprehensive clinics and surgery days
  • Participate in the didactic teaching program including supervising medical students and residents
  • Participate in the shared rotation of call coverage, inpatient consults and JayDoc clinics
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with patients as monitored by the hospital's patient experience survey
  • Serve on departmental committees and provide other service to the School of Medicine and the University as needed
  • Participate in clinical research and scientific presentations at national/regional meetings as appropriate with academic track
  • Provide clinical and surgical services to the Veterans Affairs and/or other sites under Professional Services Agreement with The University of Kansas Health System
Desired Qualifications
  • Academic background involving teaching with interest in clinical or basic research is preferred
  • Experience in growing own research programs with the ability to obtain funding from public and private sources is desired
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to manage competing and shifting priorities
