Requirements
  • Perform duties independently with little or no supervision and make decisions within general agency constraints, insurance laws, and established directions.
  • Possess thorough technical knowledge of commercial Property and Casualty insurance, including insurance forms and risk alternatives.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have an Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Insurance experience is a plus.
  • Possess or pass the requirements to become a licensed Property and Casualty insurance producer.
  • Complete continuing education and training as required by applicable statutes and regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a book of business, primarily in commercial Property and Casualty insurance.
  • Schedule fact-finding appointments, determine customers’ current coverage and financial exposures, identify coverage gaps, and evaluate relevant documents and data to assess risk and market accounts to selected carriers.
  • Develop coordinated insurance or risk management plans and calculate and quote rates for immediate coverage action and implementation.
  • Identify and develop insurance prospects and appropriate markets.
  • Market, service, and promote the agency’s products and services while developing and retaining customers strategically.
  • Service and manage existing customers by analyzing needs, answering coverage questions, selecting suitable products, and identifying concerns, competition, exposure changes, and additional coverage needs.
  • Assist policyholders through renewals, educate them on policy and product features, advantages, and disadvantages, and remarket accounts when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of the marketplace and working relationships with company representatives and underwriters, and investigate risk-placement alternatives when admitted-market coverage is unavailable.
  • Prepare submissions; negotiate pricing, policy conditions, and terms with carriers; review quotations and recommend coverage and risk alternatives; manage quotes and proposals; and bind coverage within agency authority.
  • Meet established revenue standards and quotas.
  • Collaborate with agency personnel and the supervisor to provide feedback on customer and market conditions.
  • Handle customer telephone calls and personal visits concerning risks, coverage, claims, new business, remarketing, and additional lines of coverage.
  • Ensure renewals and requests for changes, endorsements, audits, and other account actions are properly implemented and comply with company requirements.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
