Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Five to eight years of experience in test engineering and test fixture building is required.
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies and methods, preferably in PCBA or semiconductor manufacturing, is required.
  • Ability to solve problems and communicate concepts related to supply chain, production, and electronics is required.
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships across a diverse audience is required.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical customers through written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills is required.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate internal and external resources and manage competing demands is required.
  • Business judgment and analytical skills, including the ability to use and analyze data to drive actions, solve complex problems, and support learning, are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and extended hours when necessary is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Power BI, or similar systems, including data analysis, is required.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Design team to create test specifications and execute test plans for electronic systems and subsystems.
  • Work with tester suppliers to build testers and test fixtures.
  • Analyze test data, support root cause analysis, maintain documentation, and recommend corrective actions to the electronics engineering team.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, bills of materials and updates, test reports, and change records.
  • Support formal documentation for internal and external use.
  • Facilitate the engineering change order process and cut-off implementation.
  • Monitor production performance and recommend design or process improvements.
  • Coordinate with Design, Hardware, Software, Manufacturing, and Project Management departments to resolve design or production challenges.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design, manufacturing, and component issues in products in volume production at contract manufacturers.
  • Conduct NMR and RMA testing and analysis.
  • Support part and component qualification with the Design team and document new components with other engineers.
  • Support prototype development through internal processes and coordinate with contract manufacturers.
  • Attend required in-person or virtual meetings.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with PCBA manufacturing processes, including in-circuit testing and functional testing, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with document control software tools such as 3Dx and Agile is preferred.
  • Familiarity with program management tools such as Jira and Confluence is preferred.
  • Participate in research activities by gathering technical data, performing simple experiments, and documenting results under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support technology evaluations and prototype testing to build knowledge of electronics design and emerging technologies.
  • Contribute to new electronic product development through schematic design assistance, printed circuit board layout support, and prototype assembly.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to refine designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards.

S&C and SEL partner on interoperable grid control solution with 95% lower fault-test energy

S&C Electric Company has announced a collaboration with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories on the upcoming SEL-651RD Advanced Digital Control, expanding interoperability for its IntelliRupter PulseCloser Fault Interrupter. The partnership combines S&C's PulseClosing Technology, which uses 95% less energy than conventional reclosers, with SEL's protection and automation capabilities. The solution uses a fiber-optic interface based on IEC 61869 Sampled Values, simplifying installation and improving measurement accuracy compared to traditional analog cabling. The SEL-651RD will serve as an additional control option for both new and existing IntelliRupter installations, enabling utilities already standardised on SEL to integrate the technology seamlessly. The SEL-651RD is expected to be available for retrofit applications in Q4 2026, with further deployment options planned for 2027.
