Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university program.
  • Minimum of four years of experience as a Design Engineer or Requirements Engineer in civil engineering.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screening as required on the contract.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, reports, and submittals.
  • Ability to provide occasional engineering support in the field under all environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work safely in office, test-area, and field environments, including use of required personal protective equipment and possible respirator use.
  • Ability to operate a computer and effectively communicate information verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to evacuate buildings quickly during emergencies at the hazardous testing facility.
Responsibilities
  • Provide civil engineering support for facility design, construction, and maintenance at the White Sands Test Facility site.
  • Perform civil design and planning for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for real property facilities.
  • Prepare scopes of work, specification documents, and cost estimates for future projects.
  • Perform design and calculations for underground utilities, drainage structures, roadways, parking areas, retaining walls, foundations and slabs, and structural systems using concrete, steel, and timber.
  • Perform architectural design and analysis or structural modifications for interior wall systems, insulation, ceilings, flooring, coatings, roofing systems, and existing systems.
  • Apply civil engineering theory, standard engineering techniques, and local regulations to perform requirements determinations, technical assistance, and conventional design work.
  • Support civil projects during construction by coordinating responses to Requests for Information and Change Orders and solving field problems.
  • Observe and support participants on design review committees and processes.
  • Engage engineering support personnel for computer-aided design and drafting and geographic information systems support during project development.
  • Serve as the civil engineer of record for design documents and reports.
  • Prepare and present informal and formal presentations to customers and management.
  • Support and participate in the company safety program.
  • Manage the civil design process and coordinate planning, design, cost estimating, and phased project scheduling.
  • Coordinate numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure safety, environmental performance, quality, and efficiency standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Keep current with applicable industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Comply with company safety policies, standard operating procedures, and personnel policies.
  • Perform desk, office, test-area, and field work, including directing technical personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer registration in New Mexico or the ability to obtain reciprocity within the introductory period.
  • Cross-discipline experience with mechanical and electrical facility projects, building automation, and control networks.
  • Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation, WaterGEM, AutoCAD, Microsoft PowerPoint, Bluebeam Revu, Pipe Flow, Trane 3DS, RISA, or other calculation software.
  • Experience working on a government contract or for a government organization.
  • Experience in water resources and environmental engineering focused on hydrology, hydraulics, water supply, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and environmental protection.
