Requirements
  • Hands-on software engineering experience with embedded systems, Internet of Things, edge computing, control systems, or field-deployed hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Develop software for embedded sensing, monitoring, diagnostics, and control of reverse osmosis centrifuge systems.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines for test systems, edge devices, and remote deployments.
  • Support implementation of edge artificial intelligence workflows for monitoring, anomaly detection, or system optimization.
  • Write, test, and debug software in Python and C and C++ for embedded and system-level applications.
  • Troubleshoot microcontrollers, sensors, communication interfaces, and hardware/software integration issues.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers on controls, instrumentation, and system integration.
  • Support test automation, data analysis, logging, and field diagnostics.
  • Maintain software documentation, version control, test procedures, and engineering change records.
  • Apply software engineering practices for reliability, high availability, maintainability, and safe system operation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning models on edge devices or embedded Linux systems.
  • Experience with signal processing, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, or time-series sensor data.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, or UART.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, continuous integration and continuous delivery, containers, or remote device data management.
  • Experience with industrial equipment, aerospace, defense, oil and gas, water treatment, or other field-deployed hardware.
  • Experience with, or an understanding of, circuitry and the relationship between hardware and software systems.

Eden Tech, a Texas-based startup, has developed a novel desalination system that uses centrifugal force rather than traditional high-pressure filtration. The company's reverse osmosis centrifuge functions like a "salad spinner", requiring 2x-3x less energy than thermal systems whilst retaining approximately twice as much water. The approach addresses key issues with conventional desalination, which only retains 30%-40% of processed water and produces harmful brine waste. Eden plans to extract valuable minerals like lithium and rubidium from leftover brine, creating an additional revenue stream whilst reducing environmental waste. The company has raised $3.3 million in funding since launching in 2020. It recently unveiled its Genesis machine and aims to scale the technology for commercial use over the next year.

Eden Tech launches desalination technology targeting oilfield produced water. July 27, 2026 (WO) - Eden Tech has launched Genesis, a reverse osmosis desalination system designed to improve water recovery from high-salinity produced water, with the oil and gas industry serving as the technology's initial commercial market. According to the company, Genesis combines reverse osmosis with centrifuge technology to recover more than 80% of clean water from high-salinity feedwater, compared with approximately 30% to 40% for conventional reverse osmosis systems. By placing reverse osmosis membranes inside a centrifuge, the system is designed to generate the pressure required for desalination while reducing membrane fouling, eliminating the need for dedicated high-pressure pumps. Eden Tech said the technology is aimed at addressing the growing challenge of produced water management in U.S. oil and gas operations, where roughly 1 trillion gallons of high-salinity produced water are generated annually. The company said higher water recovery rates could reduce disposal volumes while creating opportunities to recover minerals from concentrated brine streams. "Water scarcity is one of the defining global challenges of our time," said Hunter Manz, founder and CEO of Eden Tech. "Our mission is to deliver reliable and affordable freshwater supplies, and protect them for future generations." Beyond upstream applications, Eden Tech said Genesis is also being evaluated for municipal water supplies, data center cooling, brine mining and lithium extraction. The company said commercial opportunities for the system currently represent more than $150 million in potential sales.
