- Ability to serve as the sole in-house lawyer, managing both strategic advice and hands-on execution.
- Clear and pragmatic communication skills to make legal issues understandable and actionable for the business.
- Own all legal, regulatory, and risk-related functions at the company.
- Support leadership and the board on corporate governance, Mergers and Acquisitions, partnerships, and market expansion.
- Draft and negotiate contracts, design compliance programs, and set scalable company policies.
- Guide the company through Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Medicaid, Medicare, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rules, and state-specific regulations.
- Oversee policies and practices for data protection frameworks including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and General Data Protection Regulation.
- Collaborate with product, operations, finance, and clinical teams to ensure responsible innovation.
- Manage outside counsel by bringing in specialized expertise while maintaining internal ownership of legal matters.
- Track legal trends in healthcare, technology, and Artificial Intelligence to develop proactive strategies.
- Familiarity with the use of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare.
- A professional background consisting of a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
Frontera Health uses a hybrid model of technology and care to expand autism services for kids in rural and underserved areas, operating both an AI-powered software platform for BCBAs and its own ABA clinics in rural New Mexico. The platform uses AI and machine learning, including Digital Phenotyping that analyzes therapy-session video at 30 frames per second to produce objective data, along with Diagnosis Builder and Assessment Builder to speed up diagnostic reports and treatment plans. Unlike others, Frontera combines clinician-support software with real-world clinics to validate the tools in day-to-day practice, emphasizing rural health equity and faster access rather than replacing clinicians. The goal is to reduce waitlists and speed up early intervention by giving clinicians data-driven, workflow-ready tools.
