Requirements
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Recent healthcare denials and appeals experience.
  • Familiarity with Explanation of Benefits and reading medical policies from payers.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure payments by primary and secondary payers and/or self-pay patients are accurate.
  • Conduct thorough and timely patient account follow-up to ensure accurate accounts receivable reporting.
  • Provide accurate and timely follow-up and resolution for all accounts receivable.
  • Meet and maintain cash collection metrics and goals.
  • Handle second-level reimbursement issues and contracted and non-contracted denials for services provided before and after procedures.
  • Work closely with payer provider-relations representatives.
  • Contact insurance companies by email and/or phone to collect payments.
  • Handle contracted and non-contracted HMO, PPO, EPO, POS, workers’ compensation, self-pay, and third-party reimbursement issues.
  • Work all denials and corrected claims, collaborating with the biller, Business Office Manager, insurance payers, and/or patients on past-due accounts.
  • Perform credit-balance management, patient-balance resolution, and non-patient insurance resolution.
  • Work closely with insurance companies and third-party payers to collect revenue for surgical services performed.
  • Primarily collect payments from insurance companies rather than self-pay patients or individuals.
