Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
  • A current New York State Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications are required.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • ANA certification or certification from an appropriate agency in the specialty is preferred.
  • Ability to operate all equipment and electronic medical record systems found in the care center as necessary to perform prescribed duties.
  • Ability to handle information with strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care to critically ill and high-acuity patients in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Coronary Care Unit.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret vital signs and diagnostic data, and respond appropriately to changes in status.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with hospital policies and evidence-based practices.
  • Coordinate a patient-focused team in providing direct and collaborative health care across clinical settings and throughout the life span.
  • Use all components of the nursing process to provide care that reflects individual cultural and religious diversities, patient needs, and patient rights.
  • Use case-management knowledge and expertise to provide comprehensive, coordinated, seamless care to individuals and aggregate groups.
  • Coordinate, integrate, and facilitate the patient/provider relationship.
  • Float between units based on patient care needs and staffing requirements.
