Job Description

The Legal & Compliance Department is seeking a motivated, experienced Paralegal skilled in residential real estate and property management. The successful candidate will be a generalist who will handle a range of real estate matters, landlord-tenant issues, dispute resolution, and compliance responsibilities under the direction of Company legal counsel. We are one of the largest owner-operators of single-family rental homes and growing fast. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President - Counsel and works collaboratively with many constituents across this industry-leading organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with a broad range of real estate and landlord/tenant issues under the direction of counsel
• Provide support on property ownership and management issues, including landlord/tenant issues, fair housing compliance, brokerage compliance, lease violations, eviction/squatters/leasing fraud situations, and environmental issues (mold, radon, contamination abatement)
• Support the management of claims and litigation for the residential portfolio (e.g., general liability, habitability, HUD/FHA); interface with outside counsel and internal colleagues on matters as assigned; support with discovery requests and all aspects of litigation management
• Coordinate execution and distribution of approved documents; coordinate Company responses to subpoenas and record requests
• Assist with managing and maintaining legal databases for the Company’s claims, compliance programs, policies and procedures
• Serve as a point of contact for legal and compliance questions
• Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, and legal policies and procedures
• Analyze data, generate reports, conduct research, and perform special projects under the direction of legal counsel
• Perform further duties as assigned based on experience, and occasional clerical duties related to responsibilities

Qualifications (About You):

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• An experienced real estate paralegal familiar with residential property management
• Familiarity with real estate brokerage licensing preferred
• Notary Public helpful, but not required
• Polished, efficient professional with strong multi-tasking abilities
• Proven dedication to integrity, teamwork, and ethical leadership in a fast-paced, demanding environment

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate’s knowledge, experience and skills.
