Requirements
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace is required, Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of highly skilled and extensive hands-on experience on multi-faceted complex satellite projects
  • Proven Launch Vehicle Interface experience in a telecommunication or satellite business environment strongly preferred with a firm background in the associated analyses and mission planning phases
  • Thorough knowledge of launch vehicle technology and deep understanding and familiarity with launch site campaigns including technical planning, logistics and coordination with the pertinent launch agencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications (verbal and written) skills
  • The ability to understand changing critical paths at the dispenser, launch vehicle and sub-tier levels and their implications on the overall project
  • The ability to effectively interface with other parts of the organization in order to help mitigate late deliveries
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and supply chain management
  • Strong working knowledge of sub-contract management, collaboration and productivity tools
  • Bilingual in English and French an asset (but not required)
Responsibilities
  • Monitoring the launch vehicle service provider from a technical perspective with a view to ensuring that the committed services and deliveries meet all the technical requirements and remain on schedule
  • Monitor the launch dispenser provider from a technical and programmatic perspective to ensure that the dispenser design meets the technical requirements, is appropriately qualified and production is effectively established ensuring close collaboration with the spacecraft manufacturer and launch provider
  • Reviewing and assessing the launch vehicle technical interface mission integration activities including schedule updates and reporting the progress to Program Management on a weekly basis
  • Performing and/or being able to evaluate the pertinent technical analysis (such as Coupled Loads, Thermal, Mission, Separation, EMC/EMI, Environmental analyses etc.) in collaboration with the launch vehicle service provider, the dispenser supplier and the spacecraft manufacturer which will feed directly into the successful program execution plan
  • Liaising with the launch service provider and their sub-tier suppliers to understand the launch vehicles’ technical progress, compliance to requirements, deliveries and their inter-dependencies to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Supporting launch campaign technical and planning activities and interfacing with the launch service provider, at their designated launch sites, and at the dispenser and spacecraft manufacturer site to ensure fully compliant and on time execution
  • Expertise relating to spacecraft systems mechanical, thermal and electrical design and analysis considered an asset
  • Preparing presentations and regular status reports, serving as the main source of information about the project to external teams
  • Providing onsite oversight of launch campaign operations
