Responsibilities
  • Establish and oversee the implementation of business development and marketing plans, ensuring alignment with firmwide strategy.
  • Track progress against plans and refine the approach to achieve overarching goals, focusing periodically on return on investment.
  • Commission research initiatives on regional product and market trends, clients, prospects, and competitors to inform strategic marketing decisions.
  • Oversee and manage the quality of output, ensuring partner expectations are met.
  • Act as the primary contact for information about the product offering in the region and related business development and marketing activities and campaigns.
  • Support the relevant product group in implementing its business development plan.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to develop and shape business development product offerings and initiatives.
  • Facilitate the flow of information to drive collaboration and cross-selling of client relationships and products in the region and globally.
  • Position and promote business development offerings and initiatives within the product group and the firm more widely.
  • Proactively identify market trends and opportunities for the product group across the region and globally.
  • Support cross-product panel requests for proposals with significant regional emphasis, working with the Global Proposals team.
  • Provide tailored input into significant product pitches and update and maintain capability statements.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to position and raise the profile of the product group and its individual lawyers.
  • Lead the organisation of relevant business development client events, seminars, conferences, sponsorships, and public relations activities.
  • Oversee multiple marketing communications projects, including the delivery of relevant directory and awards submissions.
  • Support the creation and distribution of thought leadership material.
  • Oversee and assist with client-targeting exercises and maintain oversight of priority clients and prospects in line with the firm's strategic priorities.
  • Embed a strong culture around client listening.
  • Ensure relevant regional marketing materials, including standard pitch content and master capability statements, are current and fit for purpose.
  • Apply depth of product knowledge to support firmwide client and sector programmes.
  • Conduct competitor, client, and marketplace analysis to identify new and emerging client and sector opportunities.
  • Work closely with relevant key stakeholders to execute strategically important business development function projects.
  • Support implementation of the Business Development Operating Model by assisting with alignment of activity to teams, in line with technology roadmaps and transition plans.
  • Support key stakeholders on client and market business development initiatives and implementation of business development strategy.
  • Collaborate with the fee-earning population and connect partners and lawyers to the full spectrum of business development services and expertise across the global function.

Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised ASK4, the European specialist in managed internet and smart building technology for multi-tenant buildings, on its £170 million refinancing. The refinancing replaces ASK4's existing debt facilities on improved terms and includes a new capital expenditure facility to support the company's continued growth and investment programme across the UK and Europe. The transaction strengthens ASK4's financial platform, reducing financing costs and increasing investment capacity to support further expansion, ongoing investment in digital infrastructure and service enhancement, and growing demand for professionally managed connectivity and smart building technology solutions across its core markets. ASK4 provides connectivity and smart building technology solutions to a range of residential sectors, including student accommodation, build-to-rent, co-living and long-term hospitality. The company is backed by funds managed by GI Partners. The Clifford Chance team was led by Debt Finance partner Julia House, working closely with senior associate Lydia Morrell, associate Howard Blackbee and trainee Daniel Ferguson. Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised TotalEnergies on the acquisition of Shell's onshore renewables business in Europe, including 500 MW of solar and wind assets in operation or under construction, mainly located in Italy and the Netherlands, and a 3.5 GW pipeline of solar, wind and battery storage projects in Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain. This asset portfolio will be wholly owned by TotalEnergies upon completion of the transaction, which is expected by the end of 2026 and remains subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
