Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of overall accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller role at a United States-based public accounting firm.
  • Experience supporting investor-backed or high-growth businesses with more than $5 million in annual revenue.
  • Technical proficiency in United States generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and United States compliance, including payroll, sales and use tax, property tax, and business licenses.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online or Desktop, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements concurrently while maintaining quality.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals, including delegating, reviewing work, and holding team members accountable to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for founders, chief financial officers, and investors.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy, integrity, and dependability.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time or Pacific Time.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the outsourced Controller for a portfolio of United States-based clients by communicating proactively, participating in calls and meetings, and maintaining service and responsiveness standards.
  • Onboard new clients and build accounting processes, systems, and procedures for long-term success.
  • Lead special projects, including system migrations, mergers and acquisitions preparation, budget development, and chart of accounts redesigns.
  • Prepare and review timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and management reports.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to clients regarding growth, investor reporting, and compliance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals by delegating daily tasks, reviewing and approving work products, and coordinating workload across multiple client engagements.
  • Organize the work of the team and client engagements in Karbon, the practice management system.
