The Kansas City-based financial holding company also beat earnings per share and net interest income estimates. Chairman and CEO Mariner Kemper attributed the strong results to solid loan growth, exceptional asset quality, and continued strength in fee income-generating businesses, including monetisation of investments in the private investment division. The company's stock remained flat following the earnings announcement and currently trades at $145.14. UMB Financial, with roots dating back to 1913, provides banking, asset management, and fund services to commercial, institutional, and individual customers. The regional banks sector reported mixed Q2 results overall, with the 94 tracked companies meeting revenue consensus estimates on average.
UMB Financial reported Q2 net income of $271.8 million, or $3.56 per diluted share, driven by strong loan growth, higher fee income and investment gains. The company achieved an operating return on tangible common equity of 20.3%. Average loans rose at a 12.6% annualised rate from Q1, with commercial and industrial loans growing nearly 22%. CEO Mariner Kemper attributed the expansion to market-share gains across regions and sectors. Management expects stable core net interest margin in Q3 and positive operating leverage for 2026. UMB raised its quarterly dividend 16.3% to $0.50 per share.

Corastone has partnered with UMB Fund Services to connect the fund administrator to its permissioned blockchain network, streamlining alternative investment transactions. StepStone Group is the first UMB client to use the platform, with recordkeeping support from Envision Financial Systems. The collaboration replaces manual workflows with a shared data standard enabling straight-through processing across subscription and fund servicing lifecycles. UMB Fund Services acts as transfer agent and fund administrator on the platform, exchanging standardised investor and transaction data in real time to eliminate rekeying and reduce reconciliation errors. The partnership follows Corastone's recent collaboration with Franklin Templeton to launch Private Market Model Portfolios. The permissioned blockchain network connects general partners, wealth managers, transfer agents and fund administrators whilst allowing each participant to maintain their existing client relationships.
